Ready, Set . . . .

I’m going to get started as soon as the kids get out of school. Next week.

So much going on this summer . . . I’m going to get started as soon as the kids go back to school.

Give me a call after the holidays.

Actually, after New Years.

As soon as it warms up, I’m really going to get started.

Right after my tax check comes.

I’m almost ready. As soon as Little League ends.

Wait, ok, I know I need to do this.

I’m going to start working out, but not today. My ankle is a little sore.

I’m going to start eating healthier, but not today. I have a full refrigerator.

I’ll do my homework (or prepare for that Monday morning meeting), but it’s Friday. I can do it Sunday night.

Tony Robbins says that we do EVERYTHING in life for one of two reasons. Either to gain pleasure, or to avoid pain.

He says that the “avoiding pain” motivation is much stronger. And we develop chronic procrastination.

So it stands to reason that if you’re putting off something (an ambitious intention in your life) then you’re probably attaching some type of pain to it. You’re afraid. Maybe you won’t follow through. Maybe you’ll fail. Maybe you’ll look foolish. What will everybody else think of you?

Your thoughts are the only thing you control in this world. So maybe its time to change your mind. Its just that simple.

Instead of thinking how uncomfortable it feels to “do it,” focus on how good you might feel if you do. The pain of regret is far worse than the discomfort of getting started.

Try doing it NOW. Today, not tomorrow.

What if you get in shape?

What if you turn your life around?

What if you win?

It sounds too good to be true. Yes. All the best things in life do!

But what if it works? Why not you?

If you keep on doing what you’ve been doing, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve been getting.

So if you’re content with what you’re getting then don’t do anything different.

But if something needs to get better in your world – today’s a GREAT day to get after it.

Stop getting ready to get ready. Press the “reset button” RIGHT NOW and start over!

Or just START!

You’ll probably be glad you did!
